Stops Along the Way!

Barry has been visiting his Mother each day that we are here in Illinois.  Roberta is in a nursing home/assisted living complex in Bloomington, IL.  It's about a 45 minutes drive from Goodfield, but a good time to sort out your thoughts.

Roberta will be 90 in September and is pretty spry for the rigors she's been through in the last several years.  Her memory is fraying at the edges - but lookout, it's still very much in action!  Becky, Barry's older sister lives in Huntley, IL close to Chicago.  It's a 3-4 hour drive for her.  She lives with a great deal of chronic pain due to her back, and she's an angel for driving the distance as often as she does.  She does most of the work involved around Roberta from Huntley, and her visits here are devoted to whatever Roberta wants to do...shopping, eating, sightseeing, visiting friends, did I mention eating and shopping?

Becky is a God-send for Roberta AND Barry and we all appreciate so very much what she has to do and endure.  There's truly a special lounge chair in that great garden in the sky for her - real comfy, servants to the left of her, admirers to the right.

Becky stays with Roberta's sister Phyllis when she visits.  Phyllis is a very close friend and confidente of Becky's.  Phyllis has her own cross to bear, and is delighted to have Becky visit.  Barry and I plan to visit his Aunt Phyllis and her husband, Uncle Jack this week before we leave.

And then there's the Knapp Family and its extensions!  Thanks to all of them, I don't need Barry at all!  Dinner's served, laundry's done, where can I take you, anything special you'd like to do.  Is everything alright with the RV?  We have been staying at their shop for the last couple of years when we travel to Illinois.  We hook up to their water, suck up the electricity and admire the surroundings.  Not a bad deal at all!  In all, there is Ken, Julie, Stacey, Kevin, Kim, Katelyn, Kelsey and Kyler, and playmates Hunter the beagle and Toby the Chorkie!  Plenty of excitement and entertainment, let me tell you! What more could a person ask for.  Wonderful friends like these just don't grow on trees!

While here I've been working on my contribution to the Sign Post Forest in Lake Watson, AK.  It's a dandy!  Won't be missed!  Ugly as sin!  One of a kind...:]
